In response to Rich Little's appearance with the Syracuse, NY Symphony Orchestra...

"The experience of putting this show together was an absolute joy from top to bottom. The charts are extremely well written; the rehearsal process with Rich Little and Chuck Hoover was focused but absent any stress; and the show itself remarkably varied - and very, very funny!"

Master Mimic Rich Little to Entertain Service Members on a USO/Armed Forces Entertainment Tour to Italy and Turkey

WASHINGTON – Rich Little, hailed as "the best impersonator ever," will soon begin a USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour to Italy and Turkey Dec. 8-15. Little, on his first USO/AFE tour, will be performing his own special brand of impersonations for military personnel at three bases in Italy and Turkey, and will visit with sailors aboard an aircraft carrier off the coast of Italy. He also will sign autographs and meet with service members, providing as much one-on-one interaction with them as possible.

During his tour, Little will be drawing from more than 200 impressions and adjusting his show to fit the audience. His repertoire ranges from Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra to Donald Duck and Kermit the Frog. Other impersonations include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stalone, Neil Diamond, Jack Nicholson and Clint Eastwood.

Originally from Canada, Little began his career at age 12 when he mimicked the voices of his teachers in answering their questions. He got his start in nightclubs and moved on to television, where he appeared in more than 50 television programs, ranging from variety shows, series and specials. Named "Comedy Star of the Year" by the American Guild of Variety Artists, he has nine comedy albums and three HBO comedy specials to his credit. Little received national acclaim several years ago when he toured the country with a comedy play entitled "The Presidents." In full makeup and costume, he portrayed nine presidents, ranging from John F. Kennedy to George W. Bush.

This tour continues the USO/AFE tradition of bringing celebrity entertainment to our men and women in uniform far from home during the holiday season. Recent tours include such celebrities as James Gandolfini, Gary Sinise, Rob Schneider, Toby Keith, and 50 Cent and G-Unit.

Subject: Naples Italy Show

Dear Rich,

I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you for coming to Naples to entertain. I was on duty that night and although I laughed through your entire show, I had to go back to work before getting through the line to meet you. I truly enjoyed your show! You did my favorite of your impressions, George Burns! I really laughed at your stories about Paul Lynn and Hollywood Squares.

So, thanks so much. Traveling across the world to bring us a little slice of home. Every partiot finds a way to serve and you found yours.

LT Gary Kelch

"The tour took about five months to finalize," said Little. "I made the initial call asking if I could entertain the troops and their response was an immediate yes. It’s an honor to perform for America’s fighting men and women. They’re a warm and receptive audience, and I think I bring a little bit of America to them through my voices."

Little will be at the Capo Movie Theater in Naples. The next day he travels to Gaeta for a performance aboard the aircraft carrier USS La Salle. His final show is at the Club Complex at Incirlik. .

Little will be drawing from over 200 impressions to fit the USO show’s audience.

"If the audience is young, and most of them will be in their early 20s, I’ll do people like Sylvester Stallone, Dr. Phil, Clint Eastwood, and Jack Nicholson," said Little. "An older audience might see Humphrey Bogart, Tom Jones, or Marlon Brando. And both audiences will get Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and President Bush."

A highlight of the show will be Little impersonating Sammy Davis singing "The Taliban Can."

Little received national acclaim when he recently toured the country with a comedy play entitled The Presidents. In full makeup and costume, Little portrays nine presidents ranging from John F. Kennedy to George W. Bush.
